June Recital Information
Huntington Academy will perform six shows in the University Theater at CSU Long Beach, over the course of the weekend of June 26th and 27th. Most classes will participate in one of the six shows. This is a very exciting time and is a chance for your dancers to show you what they have learned over the year. Performing on stage is an invaluable experience.

Studio rehearsals at HAD will take place May 29, June 5, 12, or 19, depending on which show(s) your child is in. Mandatory-to-perform dress rehearsals at the theater are June 21nd-25th from approximately 3:30 - 9:00 pm. Each class is assigned a day and time for their dress rehearsal. IMPORTANT: PLEASE COME INTO THE STUDIO TO READ THE LINE-UP AND REHEARSAL SCHEDULE.
If your child will not be participating in the June shows, we suggest you take the month of June off, as classes will be focusing on the recital that month.
To purchase tickets fill out a ticket order form available at the studio in May. Turn form into the front desk with payment. DO NOT WAIT to purchase tickets. Some shows may sell out! All accounts must be paid in full, including June tuition, before tickets may be purchased.
REMEMBER:
• Check the Volunteer Bulletin Board and sign up for a volunteer position. We can not do these shows without parent volunteers. Thanks in advance!
• "Studio Dress Rehearsals" are held at Huntington Academy of Dance.
• "Theater Dress Rehearsals" are held at the University Theater on the campus of CSU Long Beach
• We make every effort to have rehearsals run on time. Many times this is not possible due to unforeseen technical issues or issues with the CSULB crew. This is the nature of live theater, please be understanding. Do not make plans immediately following your dancer’s rehearsals. In the event we are running late, no one will be disappointed. Thank you for your patience and support.
• Invite family and friends to come see your dancer perform. This is a very special time for your dancer and they have worked hard! Share it!
PARKING AT CSULB
It is HIGHLY recommended that dancers carpool to the theater rehearsals. There will be a parking attendant at the entrance to Lot 7. (Look for the "Theater Arts" signs) Parking for the rehearsals (between 3:00 & 6:00 pm) and all performances is $5. Have cash ready for the attendant. If you enter Lot 7 after 6:00 pm and have not purchased a pass earlier that day from the attendant, you must purchase a pass from the parking pass vending machine located outside Lot 7. The machine will take credit and debit cards. If you arrive between 3:00 and 6:00 pm you must purchase a pass from the attendant, not the machine.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED WITHOUT A PASS, YOU WILL GET TICKETED!
Costumes will be distributed during regular class time. Costumes have already been distributed, please check with the office if your child was absent on distribution day.VERY IMPORTANT:
All pre-ballet, Primary and Tap/Jazz classes must have 2 volunteers per class to stay with the dancers backstage. Costumes for these classes will not be distributed until the volunteers for each class are in place. Those volunteering will not need to purchase a ticket for the show. They will see their dancers perform from side stage and have unique photo opportunities in the dressing room! Please let your child’s teacher know if you would like to be a class chaperone.
Photos...
Dance photos will be taken by Photographic Renditions at HAD on Sunday, June 7th. The sign up sheet is posted on the board. Dancers may wear their costume for the June Recital or a basic leotard & tights.
Suggestion...
Parents of young dancers, bring your dancer to see a show they are not performing in. Let them see the possibilities and what lies ahead. This year three of our shows feature Fairies and whimsical creatures from A Midsummer Nights Dream. Two of our shows have gone completely buggy as we present "A Bug’s Adventure"! Our sixth and final performance showcases of many of our talented dancers performing solos, duets or trios that have been choreographed specifically for them. Do lunch or dinner and make an afternoon or evening of it!
Reminder...
No video taping or photography is permitted during the June recitals. This is for the safety of the dancers and the enjoyment of the audience. Please be courteous. The blue screens on the back of most cameras is disruptive to the audience members sitting behind you. The shows will be professionally video taped by Thumbs Up Video. Pick up an order form at the studio or at the shows. Thank you!
From the Office Staff...
Now is the time to make sure all accounts are paid in full. Accounts must be paid in full including June’s tuition for tickets to be purchased and dancers to perform in the June Recital. Thank you!
